On the day of your Rotorua adventure we will pick you up from your accommodation between Tauranga and Rotorua (transport arranged on request) and take you to the thermal wonderland that is Rotorua.

There are two activities on offer. You can choose to spend a whole day kayaking, a whole day bike riding or spend half the day doing each.

Your kayaking adventure takes place on the beautiful Lake Tarawera. Witness the amazing scenery as you paddle in the shadow of Mount Tarawera, a dormant volcano which last erupted in 1886.

You will kayak through clear blue waters to the natural thermal hot pools. As you approach you will witness the steam rising from the surface of the lake. You can customise you own natural spa by mixing hot and cold water from the lake. You will witness the birdlife on the shore of the lake and the native tui calling from the treetops. Experience an area overflowing with natural beauty, untouched native bushland rich in Maori history and geothermal activity.

If you choose a biking adventure you will experience what are some of the best mountain bike trails in the Southern Hemisphere or, some would say, the world. You will ride along incomparable trails that wind and weave their way through a forest of redwood, radiata, Douglas fir, eucalyptus and larch. You will ride through stunning native bush and towering trees that envelop riders. You’ll get stunning views of lakes and the looming bulk of Mount Tarawera through gaps in the forest.

Alternatively, you can experience a shorter but equally impressive version of both and combine half a day of bike riding and half a day of kayaking to get the best of both worlds!
