Experience the finest half-day white water rafting trip in the world and stay in a riverside lodge in a spectacularly beautiful location, hill country horse trekking amongst awesome scenery. This is the central North Island of New Zealand; a truly unique rural wilderness experience.

The experience includes two activities, white water rafting and horse trekking, meals, and one night's accommodation in an en-suited room.

You arrive the first evening for dinner at 7pm. After a relaxing evening retire to your riverside room. Breakfast at 8am the next morning, then rafting briefing at 8.30am. You are fully briefed, equipped with river gear and then set off on a two to three hour mission on a section of river, which has been called the finest half day rafting trip in the world. The trip starts easy, and about halfway enters the gorge. A section of 10 major and numerous minor rapids follows.

Arrive back at the Lodge for lunch, hot showers and a bit of a break.

You are picked up for the 5 minute drive to your afternoon hill country horse trek about 2pm. This is a fully-guided trek and can be tailored to suit your riding ability. Make sure to take your camera as you explore the spectacular scenery. There are horses for all riding abilities.

Arrive back at the Lodge by 4pm ready to depart, or stay another night (second night not included).

Session Length

Trips and accommodation operate all year round. Allow 4.5 hours in total for rafting, and 3 hours for horse trekking.

Guidelines:

The half-day white water trip on the Rangitikei is regarded as challenging. You will need average levels of fitness, and must be over the age of 13 years. Horse trekking is not so strenuous but again the age limit is 13 years.

Numbers:

Group size horse trekking is between 2 and 10. Group size rafting is between 3 and 7, in each raft, and up to 35 on the trip as a whole.

Weather:

Rafting and horse trekking are weather dependent. Rafting may be cancelled if the river is too high or too low. Horse trekking may be cancelled because of heavy rain.

You are required to sign a waiver that specifies that you have understood the briefing, are aware of the inherent risks in the activity, and have informed your guides of any medical problems that they may have that would effect yours, or others, safety.
